Surprise $15 million college football coach surges as new favorite to be named Florida HC

Florida's search for a new head football coach is intensifying as Lane Kiffin, initially a top target, is no longer in consideration. On3's Chris Low reports Kiffin is focused on staying at Ole Miss or moving to LSU. Consequently, Florida has shifted its focus to Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall, who is now considered the favorite to take over the Gators' program. Sumrall currently holds a 67% chance of being selected according to betting odds.

Sumrall is also weighing interest from Auburn and could be a candidate for Ole Miss if Kiffin leaves. Despite Florida's interest, Washington's Jedd Fisch is a distant second in the odds, while Missouri's Eli Drinkwitz and Vanderbilt's Clark Lea are off the table after signing recent contract extensions.
