The decision aligns with the rules but contrasts with a previous replay ruling in a Week 14 game between the Steelers and Ravens, where an interception was overturned. NFL V.P. of instant replay Mark Butterworth had stated that in that instance, the player maintained control until down by contact. The inconsistency between the two rulings raises questions about the application of the catch rule.
